Dear Bootsie
Two friends separated by continents share an adventure from a small African village. While on mission with her family, Ginger has to learn to deal with her new native teacher - who obviously can’t take a joke, a cagey little thief - she can’t wait to get her hands on, and solve the mystery contained in a stack of old letters she discovers while rummaging through an old trunk. And the only thing that keeps her sane is writing her BFF, Bootsie, back in the states.
Homesick for the good old US of A, Ginger soon learns there is a good reason for her being in such a far away land, and that it is not about her. This humorously written chapter book with b/w illustrations at the beginning of each chapter to help readers envision the story, is a delightful read for young minds who like to sniff out a clever mystery. A middle grade level fiction with a redeeming ending.
